June Bee Club Meeting

Mike Connor from Honeytree Nursery will join us on June 12, 2013 at 7 pm at the Kalamazoo Nature Center, to discuss, "Honeytrees:  a major resource for your bees."  He will discuss major pollen and nectar trees that grow locally and if time allows will take us outside to ID trees.  Mike has been a beekeeper for more than 45 years.  After college he began working for Dadant and Sons in Grand Rapids.  He managed there for seven years and moved the operation to Wayland. After that, he expanded his own hives to over 200 and started his own nursery/beekeeping operation in 1983, which he named "Honeytree Farms".  Mike worked for the city of Plainwell for seven years as their Park Superintendent/Arborist/Horticulturist.  He received his Certification as an Arborist in 1999, and is also a Certified tree Risk Assessor, Nurseryman and Pesticide Applicator.  This will be the last regularly scheduled club meeting until fall.

Bee Club Board Meetings

The Bee Club board meets on the second Tuesday every other month at Kazoo Books on Parkview Dr. in Kalamazoo at 7 pm.  The next board meeting is May 13, 2013.  The board invites input from the club members and welcomes anyone who would like to come to the meeting to attend.  If you have ideas or would be interested in serving on the board, please come and participate in making the club all it can be.
